Step #1: Check if the Device is Unlocked
The first thing you want to do is to check if the smartphone or tablet you’ll be using is unlocked. You can use an online tool to detect whether or not the device is unlocked or not.
Alternatively, you can try inserting a SIM card from a different carrier into the device and see if it will be used for calling and texting.

Step #2: Check the Signal or Reception
After ensuring that the device is unlocked, what you want to do next is to check if you’re at a spot that is covered by Boost Mobile.
They’re a pretty well-off provider, but that doesn’t mean they cover the entirety of the country.
So, using another Boost Mobile device, determine if where you’re at has a strong signal.
